At McMahon Clarke Legal, we believe that ongoing participation in industry is vital to stay ahead of continuing changes and developments. We play an active role in contributing with representation on the executive committee of the Australian Direct Property Investment Association (ADPIA).

ADPIA is the peak national body representing the interests of its members in the unlisted property investment sector: trusts and syndicates. ADPIA seeks to both promote and enhance the professionalism of its members and to assist those members in their dealings with financial planners, investors and other industry players, whilst also assisting Australians in achieving financial security through an expansive understanding of investment property.

With membership including property fund managers, property financiers and other property and mortgage professionals, ADPIA disseminates information and education, creates industry standards, lobbies regulators and State and Federal politicians, and encourages interaction/networking between members for their mutual benefit.

ADPIA advocates transparency, equality of treatment, education and the development of superior standards across the direct and unlisted property sector.

McMahon Clarke Legal is inspired to make a difference by their continuing sponsorship of a hearing impaired child from Papua New Guinea. We have been assisting Hannah-Lisa Xaiver and her parents, to temporarily live in Toowoomba, so that Hannah-Lisa can attend therapy with the Hear and Say Centre for her profound hearing loss.

The Hear and Say Centre is one of the leading Paediatric Auditory-Verbal and cochlear implant centres in the world, teaching children who are deaf or hearing impaired to listen and speak since 1992.

The Centre aims for its children to achieve speech and language in the normal range for their age by six years of age giving them the opportunity for a mainstream education, employment of choice and social integration with the hearing world.

Chain Reaction - The Ultimate Corporate Cycling Challenge

McMahon Clarke Legal are proud to have once again been involved in the Chain Reaction Corporate Cycling Challenge. The event, now in its fourth year, was held in the week starting 8 March 2010 during which participants cycled from Port Macquarie to Noosa. The trip was just under 1,000 km and was completed over six days. McMahon Clarke Legal have sponsored the event each year but in 2010, one of our partners, Andrew Shearer-Smith, participated as a cyclist.

Chain Reaction is a serious cycling challenge for senior executives with a passion for cycling and an awareness of their corporate social responsibilities. We use it as an opportunity to give something back to the community, while for Andrew the journey was also a personal achievement.

Amazingly this year's event has raised over $800,000. This money will be shared between the Starlight Children’s Foundation, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation and a few other charities. Starlight’s goal is to enable every single seriously ill or hospitalised child access to Starlight’s programs wherever they may live when they need Starlight the most. The money raised from Chain Reaction will give Starlight the opportunity to help make more sick kids smile again. The Alannah and Madeline Foundation will use the money to help further develop and implement their ‘Better Buddies’ program in schools across Australia, an initiative designed to create friendly and caring primary school communities where bullying is reduced, enabling younger children to feel safe and cared for while older children feel valued and respected.
