Karsen previously worked for a boutique litigation firm and has broad experience spanning the property, commercial leasing, insurance, civil defamation, administrative law, building and construction, and planning and development sectors. His litigation experience includes matters in the Queensland Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court, and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Karsen spent two years abroad in Shenzhen, China, attending university and working, and is proficient in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Recent work

• Queensland Supreme Court Application - Karsen recently assisted in an application to the Queensland Supreme Court for the appointment of statutory trustees to partition or sell a jointly owned property that was subject to a dispute over an investment between business partners.
• Defamation Dispute - Karsen had carriage of responding to and resolving allegations of defamation by a high-profile Sri Lankan businessman with ties to a former Sri Lankan government administration official.
• Landlord and Tenant Dispute - Karsen was part of a team that assisted in negotiating a pre-litigation settlement between a landlord and tenant in a dispute over rent arrears accumulated in a commercial leasing agreement over the COVID-19 Emergency Response regulation period in Queensland.
• Building Dispute - Karsen assisted in negotiating a mutually beneficial resolution in a dispute between a builder and owner over a residential build contract where the owner discovered the builder did not hold a licence under the Queensland Building and Construction Commission.
