Matt brings a unique combination of technical excellence, genuine on the ground experience, and a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder needs across the funds management, financial services, and real estate industries. In addition to many years' law firm experience, Matt has worked as in-house legal counsel for some key industry players, including a leading residential property funds and real estate services group, Australian Unity Investments, and Centro Properties Group (now Vicinity Centres). Matt's focus is complex project and transactional work, structuring and establishing investment funds and financial products, and all aspects of fundraising, ongoing operations, governance and compliance, as well as commercial/corporate transactions. Matt is easy to work with and a strategic thinker with a unique understanding of the commercial context in which his clients operate.

Recent Work

Some key transactions and roles Matt has recently been involved in include:

  • Centuria Industrial Income Fund No. 1 – assisting Centuria to establish the Centuria Industrial Income Fund No. 1, which raised $39 million to acquire three industrial assets, including preparing and advising on the constitution, PDS, and due diligence procedures and documentation.
  • Centuria Diversified Property Fund restructure – advising Centuria on changes to investment features of its flagship unlisted diversified fund, including amendments to the constitution and convening a meeting of investors to consider the changes, and the issue of a revised PDS for the fund.
  • Leading real estate services group – Matt was the group's General Counsel and advised on a wide range of issues and transactions across the group's funds management and property services businesses, including fund raising, joint venture style transactions, and corporate governance matters.
